  Race, Ethnicity and Culture

In day to day life people use many measurements to categorize people, race, ethnicity, and culture are some words that are used to categorize people. Basically the word race is used to categorize people using their physical traits such as color of skin, color of hair, gender etc. The main racial categorization is categorized as skin color. There are five main racial categories such as African Asian- European Native Americans and Oceanian. The word ethnicity used to identify their culture those cultural factors are nationality tribal affiliation religion language and traditions. Everyone has ethnic group and it may affect someone’s personality.

 RACE

Since race is grouping populations by their physical traits. There are so many ways to categories such as skin color hair color eye color sexual ability and many more the most popular and easiest categorization is grouping by skin color. Heterosexual lesbian gay bisexual are some group of sexual differences. Racism can simply defined as an action or inaction which among individuals or groups based on their race recently there are so many conflicts because of this racial categorization as an example, we can consider the murder of George Floyd all of the protests black lives matter are raised up with this incident. Usage of race is deployed to identify different subsections of Homo sapiens, called human race such as European race, African race. Before the 17th century the term race was used to refer to speakers of a common language and then to denote national affiliations. After the 17th century it began to refer to the word race, physical traits. Today world it refers to social constructs based on rules made by society. Racial diversity describes interactions between groups. For example, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian etc. And also it can be a big diversity within an ethnic group. Because of their national origins, cultural histories and identities. The word diversity can also be used for other categories such as gender, education, religion, social class, north & south, sexual orientation, gender identification national & international.

Social Darwinism

 Social Darwinism was popular at late 19th and early 20th centuries. That is concepts of natural selection and survival of the fittest to sociology, economics and politics. In simple words, social Darwinism is winning of the most powerful team from a fight. According to Darwinism, rich people may succeed and poor ones would fail.

CULTURE

 Culture is the characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, encompassing language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts. Thus, it can be seen as the growth of a group identity fostered by social patterns unique to the group. Languages, Festivals, Rituals & Ceremony, Holidays, Pastimes, Food and Architecture are some of various items of culture. In eastern countries, like India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan there are rich cultural qualities.

ETHNICITY

 Ethnicity is a fact or state of belonging to a social group that has a common national or cultural tradition. People can be divided ethnically such as cultural heritage, ancestry, origin myth, history, homeland, language or dialect. And symbolic systems such as religion, mythology and ritual, cuisine, dressing style, art or physical appearance. 

PREJUDICE AS DIFFERENCE 

Prejudice means an unjustified or incorrect attitude. Today world, there are many fights because of race or other methods of human categorizations. We have a huge experience with this topic. The American man named George Floyd’s death and the protests of “Black Lives Matter” is the biggest racial protest in presently. “I can’t breathe” was the theme of this protest and it was activated more than 50 countries

CONCLUION

 Human can be divided using many categories. But all of us called human. We all have same things. We divide “us” for our easiness. But it’s not for fighting or it isn’t cause to injustice. We have to stay peacefully with everyone. The murder of gorge Floyd also teaches us the racial categorization is useless thing. The one and only category must be “human” or “homo sapiens”.
